Most recently, the trend is having gorgeous and exceptional registration numbers. The craze of auctioning premium vehicle registration numbers is gaining recognition in the country. Car buyers are all set to shell huge money to get fancy car registration numbers.

The Punjab state transport organized an auction of a unique series of car registration numbers and got an outstanding response and good profits.

A number of attractive registration numbers sold with high price tags are 0001 number sold for Rs 70,000, 0002 for Rs 80,000 and 0005 for Rs 55,000.

However, the number that brought good revenue and maximum price to the transport department was the PB-11-AK-47, that bagged a striking price of Rs 2.68 lakh and this heavily priced registration number was sold to a farmer from Ropar, as the number AK-47 attracted him.

Diesel coughs out more toxic than petrol

Posted by Carazoo on March 12, 2008

The vehicle population is going high and so is the Car pollution level is going too high which has turned into a major concern for the entire world. Another culprit that was caught red-handed in polluting the environment is Diesel. Based on the investigations by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), and on actual emissions data available from the Pune-based Automotive Research Association of India, have shown that even Euro I-I reveal that diesel cars spew several times more toxic emissions than their petrol version, that is 7.5 times more times more toxic compared to petrol.

This clearly reflects the flawed emission standards that allow diesel cars to emit more nitrogen oxide and particulate matter compared to petrol cars. Diesel-related emission is already very high in air, especially in Delhi. It is a matter of serious concern that the monthly average levels of tiny particulates, increasing in health risks like asthma, lung diseases, chronic bronchitis and heart damage. Long-term exposure to such toxics can even cause lung cancer.

If the right action is not taken on time, then in future, diesel will be great threat to human life. The pollution caused by the diesel can cause severe damage in future, if it is not checked and controlled right now. Diesel cars are nearly 30 per cent of the new car sales and are expected to go up to 50 per cent by 2010. Already more than half of Indian cities have critical levels of particulates. “The diesel car technology that is currently available in India is clean.” Is it a myth?
