Mitsubishi to Roll Out Small Car to India

The relation between the small cars and India is getting deeper. Small cars are dominating the Indian auto market.

Nano made a sensation in the car market carrying the tag of cheap car on Indian roads. Later, the other car manufacturers like, Hyundai Motor India, Honda Seil India, Maruti Suzuki followed he trend, GM. Now the Japanese car major Mitsubishi is thinking of entering the small car in India.

Mitsubishi’s small car is expected to hit the Indian shores by 2010 and would carry the engine at the rear just like to the one in Nano. It is only the engine lactation that matches with Tata’s Nano, as far the performance, style and capacity, they differ. A 1.0 litre engine will propel the new car.

Creative Indian car designers

Indian designers are getting inspired by traditional symbols. Recently a student a student of the National Institute of Design (NID) was inspired with the ancient Indian treatise to design a car. His creativity was recognized and offered him an opportunity of an internship with Pininfarina of Italy-the world’s leading automobile design house.

 Vatsyayan re-invented symbol of passion and love will be seen on the on the wheels. Some of the other young designers were inspired were Ahmedabad signature landmark, Ahmedabad’s signature landmark — the Sidi Saiyed ki Jali — that has spurred another NID student, Neerav Panchal, to design ‘Ratna’ which he calls the “jewel of Indian roads”. A third student, Shailendra Petwal, was inspired by ‘Navras’ to create his design.

The winners of a competition on the theme ‘Luxury Car for India’ held by designers associated with auto giants like Ferrari, Ford, GM, Jaguar and Fiat, Panchal and Petwal will be also  joining at Pininfarina.

GM navigates with MapmyIndia

GMs’ growth chart sees a raise

The ‘Spark‘ is on with General Motors growth chart. The company saw an impressive growth of 80% in February this year compared to 2007 February sales’. And the credit goes to the cute and stylish Spark, who has given the majority of sales figure to the GM growth chart.
Taking a peep into its sales figure we come to know that had a good sale with all its models.
2,229 units of Chevrolet Spark was sold with  1,681 units of MUV Chevrolet Tavera, 1,102 units of mid-sized sedan Chevrolet Aveo, 360 units of premium sedan Chevrolet Optra and 191 units of newly-launched Chevrolet Captiva. The Chevrolet Captiva which is the latest one to join the Chevrolet bandwagon is also receiving rave reviews from auto experts and customers alike. Along with the company is also concentrating on expanding the its dealership and service centre networks to support the rising market demands for its products in India.

Small Chevy Again

After Chevy‘s Spark-ling success now it time for another small car of Chevrolet to shine. GM motors is expected to roll out their second small car in India very soon but it may not be under the brand name of Chevrolet. 

Nano does not have to take any kind of precaution, as the proposed small car will not be competing directly with Tata Motors’ Nano but the price tag will be cheaper than GM’s current lowest priced car in India. The official announcement is yet to be done.

 
 Nano has opened a way for the other car makers to think about rolling out the low cost cars in India. Currently about 7% of the total market share of GM’s global operations constitute the Asia-Pacific and is likely to go high with its huge potential in Indian car market. 
The ‘winking’ car Spark was launched in 2007 carrying the price tag of Rs 3.10- 4.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).  The other cars that flaunts on the Indian roads are other products in the company’s portfolio include the U-VA, Aveo, SRV, Tavera, Optra and Captiva.
