Facelifted version of Octavia RS and Octavia Scout

Skoda Auto has rolled out the upgraded versions of Octavia RS and Octavia Scout in the international market. The same upgraded versions are speculated to be rolled out on Indian roads but with different names. Both the cars will be equipped with different engines to meet the Indian conditions but will have the same six-speed manual transmission.

The facelifted version of the Octavia RS will have a new grille, redesigned headlamps, refurbished bumper, and LED fog lamps. And the facelifted Octavia Scout will have a redesigned grille and bold headlamps to accentuate the actual beauty and elegance of the car. Both these versions will also showcase some pioneering technologies.

There are speculations that in India, the upgraded versions will be known as Skoda Laura, a car that is doing wonders in the Indian car market. With these upgraded versions Skoda wishes to grab a higher share in the Indian market and strengthen its foothold in the country.

Mahindra-Renault to Introduce More New Models

Mahindra and Mahindra the Indian based car manufacturer’s joint venture with the French car manufacturer Renault is thinking of adding four to five models its product portfolio. Currently the entry level Logan is the only model from the joint venture on the Indian roads.

The car manufacturer experienced great trouble with the underutilization of their Nasik plant which is the result of the economic crisis. Initially both the car manufacturers were not concerned in expanding Logan product line but with the Logan sales falling, the car manufacturers were forced to re-think about their decision on expansion.

Mahindra Renault Logan after its launch in 2007 was seen with good sales which were recorded at 26,000 units. But after the hit by the recession, the sales drastically fell and were reduced to nearly half at 13,423 in the year 2008. This affected the production the plant was underutilized of the plant as well as the low sales with the dealer network. As a solution, the car manufacturer is planning to launch new models to their stable to push the sales.
