Posted by Carazoo on February 17, 2009

Here’s the good news for the new car buyers as the the interest rate for car loan is cut down by the HDFC bank. According to their new change, the interest on car loan will be cut by 125 basis points. Basis point is a term used in finance where the unit of measure describe the percentage change in the value or rate of a financial instrument. One basis point is equivalent to 0.01%.

The economic melt down has left the Indian car market paralysed leading to very poor sales and also production cut in some cases. The initiative taken by the HDFC bank is an appreciated step as this will help the car manufacturers to push the sales. Some of the financial institution had stopped offering car loans when the recession hit.

The car sales drastically suffered nearly 18 percent of loss, which left the Indian car industry shaken and shattered. Currently the HDFC Bank offers 13.5-14 per cent interest on car loans which will be cut based on the new interest pattern.
